OUR POND

Our Pond.
We started creating the pond in 2003. The backyard was just dirt. We made a water feature with a stream. Then we wanted fish. We did some reading on ponds and we created this pond. We have ran into many problems along the way. I really enjoy the fish and sitting besides the pond. These pictures were taken Oct. 2008

Taylor Creek, South Lake Tahoe, CA. USA

At Taylor Creek Visitor Center in October, you can see the spawning run of the Kokanee Salmon in Taylor Creek. The visitor center is located off HWY 89, just a few miles after the Y, where HWY 50 & 89 split off in South Lake Tahoe. You can reach the Stream Profile Chamber by following the trail and the information signs. There you can see inside part of Taylor Creek. We really enjoyed this trip.

Cosumnes River Preserve, CA. USA

Egret

This was a pleasant walk.

Cosumnes River

Feather Falls Oroville, CA USA

This is a 9 mile hike round trip. I am in average shape for a person in their 50's and I felt this hike. The last mile back was difficult. We took the longer trail there and the shorter but steeper path back. I like taking the longer one on the way to the falls, it is shady and the grade is less steep. This is a popular trail, I would go early in the morning and in the spring. April or early May would be nice months to go. The view is breathtaking and the trail is nice too.

The picture above and the picture below were taken on the outlook that extends over Feather River.

This is Bald Rock Dome.

Directions : From Oroville take HWY 162, go about 10 miles to Forbestown Rd. Take Forbestown Rd.east. Go left onto Lumpkin Rd. About 8 miles later you will see Feather Falls parking lot. You might want to look for better directions.
